Cape May County Surrogate available to speak to your Club or Organization

Surrogate W. Robert Hentges said that he speaks to approximately 30 different organizations in Cape May County yearly.   His program provides details and information about Wills and Estates, and the necessity for having a valid, properly drawn Will.

The Surrogate also continues to update our citizens about various scams, which usually target senior citizens.   Surrogate Hentges said that several companies, usually based in Texas, send out postcards to senior citizens, frightening them into believing that probating a Will in New Jersey is expensive. 

The opposite is true, Surrogate Hentges said.   The cost to probate a two page Will in New Jersey is $100.00.   The scam artists seek to separate our seniors from their savings, trying to convince them that a $2,000 living trust will save them thousands of dollars in probate and legal fees.    

Hentges said, "I have been successful in a number of cases, stopping our senior citizens from being conned out of their money.”

“During my many speaking engagements," Hentges said, "I encourage my audience to contact local attorneys and financial advisors, instead of succumbing to the scare tactics of unscrupulous marketers.”
