Approximately 2,800 Residents Get Seasonal Flu Vaccine
at County's Drive-Through Flu Shot Clinic – More Vaccine on the Way!
Cape May Court House – Nearly 2,800 residents were vaccinated against seasonal flu at the County’s free drive-through flu shot clinic on Sunday. Freeholder Gerald Thornton commented on the large demand for seasonal flu vaccine. “Although we provide free flu shots to the community every year, the public has demonstrated a lot of interest this flu season in protecting themselves and their families from the flu.” Although the waiting line was long, most people received their flu vaccine within two hours.
The County does not currently have any seasonal flu vaccine in stock. Health Officer Kevin Thomas said, “We are expecting more seasonal flu vaccine. Our manufacturer tells us we should receive the rest of our order sometime between now and the end of November. As soon as the remainder of vaccine is received, we will schedule another flu clinic.” Information on new seasonal flu clinics will be posted on the Department’s website www.cmchealth.net and on the flu hotline 463-6581.
The seasonal flu season peaks between late January and late February in New Jersey. There is plenty of time to get a seasonal flu shot and be protected.
In addition to the County flu clinics, many physicians offer seasonal flu vaccine as do many retail establishments. The website www.findaflushot.com lists the retail flu clinics in our area.
