Back to Article List My County Poster Contest Winners Announced Release Date: March 26, 2008   My County Poster Contest Judging took place in the Jury Assembly Room on March 26.  Contest judges Anne Marie Zabielski (center), Lizabeth Shay and Mary Beth James are joined by Sheriff John F. Photo by Dee Santesse.              Twelve winners of the 16th Annual My County Poster Contest will be honored at a special awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 9  at 3:30 p.m. in the Cape May County Court House, Jury Assembly Room.  These winners were selected from among five hundred twenty two fourth grade students from sixteen county schools who participated in the My County Poster Contest sponsored by Cape May County’s Constitutional Officers – County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti, Sheriff John F. Callinan and Surrogate W. Robert Hentges.  The awards ceremony will be with the winners, their families, teachers and friends.                  The annual event is hosted by the county’s Constitutional Officers during National County Government Week (April 6-12) to bring awareness of the function of county government to fourth graders, who regularly study the topic as part of their curriculum. The winning posters are on display at the Cape May County Court House until April 30.  The winning posters will be featured on a 2008-2009 color poster calendar distributed to the winners and 2008-2009 fourth grade class.               On March 26 the twelve winning posters were selected by judges Mary Beth James, children’s librarian; Anna Marie Zabieleski, artist; and Lizabeth Shay, Cape May County Records Manager.  Sheriff Callinan, County Clerk Fulginiti and Deputy Surrogate Suzann Callinan were in attendance during the judging which took place in the Jury Assembly Room.  “We enjoyed viewing each poster entry…Our fourth grade contestants put forth so much effort and creativity.”  Fulginiti said. The winners are as follows: 1st Place Kevin O’Brien – Upper Township Elementary School - Mrs. Klein’s Class 2nd Place Alyssa Chain – Upper Township Elementary School - Mrs. Pittaro’s Class 3rd Place          Lindsey Purvis – Maud Abrams School – Mrs. O’Shea’s Class           Honorable Mention Winners: Ana Fangayen - Middle Township Elementary #2 - Mrs. Young’s Class Jonathan Diaz - Glenwood Avenue School – Mr. Fuscellaro’s  Class Daria Neri - Crest Memorial School  - Mrs. Bada’s and Mrs. Sauerbrey’s Class Devon Nagle – Dennis Township Elementary School – Mrs. Creamer’s Class Kevin Santiago - Glenwood Avenue School – Ms. Schwitters’ Class Austin Shortall – Bishop McHugh Regional Catholic School - Mrs. Hendee’s Class Morgan Burkhardt – Our Lady Star of the Sea School – Mr. Lombardelli’s Class Anna Cawley – Margaret Mace Elementary School – Mrs. Lamken’s Class Katie Fiore - St. Ann Regional School - Mrs. Sexton’s Class All winners will receive a commemorative mug and goodie bag at the ceremony.  2nd and 3rd Place winners each receive a $50.00 U.S. Savings Bond.  The 1st Place winner receives a $100.00 U.S. Savings Bond and a pizza party with his homeroom class.  For more information about the My County Poster Contest and the Awards Ceremony contact Suzann Callinan at 609-463-6668.
