Cape May Court House – Thirteen local non-profit groups have received 2010 arts regrants totaling $47,500 from the County’s Culture and Heritage Commission.
The 2010 recipients are:
• Access to Art $8,000 to present a Renaissance Faire/Festival at the Delaware river and
Bay Authority with a Renaissance band, Renaissance dance, Shakespeare vignettes (with
student participation)
• The Avalon Performing Arts Council will use $4,000 to present various events, including
the 28th annual art show and sale
• Cape Shore Chorus Sweet Adelines International $3,000 for their annual musical
production on October 9, 2010
• The Friends of the Ocean City Pops, $7,500 for internationally known violinist Sarah
Chang, in concert with the Ocean City Pops Orchestra July 15 at the Ocean City Music Pier
• The Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey, $500, to offer “Discover the Arts”
program to help girls discover art, music, literature, theater and dance
• Historic Cold Spring Village $3,000 to present live cultural entertainment at their Village
Folk Festival to be held the weekend of July 24 and 25, 2010
• John Walter Cape Community Band, $500 for new music scores and to produce a live
concert CD for distribution
• Lower Township, $2,000 to conduct an eight-week summer arts program with the Center
for Community Arts; the free program will be available five days a week to children in
grades 5 through 8
• The Masterworks Choir, $2,000 to present Handel’s “Messiah” to be performed in
conjunction with the Choir’s 40th anniversary celebration. The concert will be presented
in July, 2010
• Nature Center of Cape May, $2,500 to present the program, “Nature Through the Arts”,
a two-part program reaching out to children and their families
• Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum $6,000 to research, create and produce an
exhibit, “Aviation Art” which will present aviation art through the mediums of prints,
paintings and photography
• Ocean City’s Arts Center $3,500 for instruction in visual arts, dance, and the performing
arts
• Ocean City’s Fine Arts League $5,000 to present a variety of exhibitions, performances,
events, educational activities and outreach programs
The balance of the grant will be used for technical assistance workshops for local non-profit groups $1,908; and evaluators for the 2010 regrant applications $750.

The County Division of Culture and Heritage promotes public interest and participation in local, county, and state history, as well as in the cultural traditions of the community, and supports the development of the County’s arts and history organizations.
