Sealed bids for 2009 Fender Repairs of the Ocean Drive (County Road No. 619) over Grassy Sound (Grassy Sound Bridge) in Middle Township will be received by the Cape May County Bridge Commission at the Cape May County offices at the William E. Sturm, Jr. Administration Building, 4 Moore Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey 08210, until 2:00 pm prevailing time, August 12, 2009 and then publicly opened and read aloud.

The work involves the repair and/or the reconstruction of the timber fender system about Pier 3 and Pier 4; replacement of steel ladder on Pier 3; concrete spall repairs maintenance and protection of vehicular traffic; and all other work incidental to the repair of the bridge fender systems.

Plans, specifications, referenced plans, proposal forms and other bidding documents for the work are on file at the Office of the County Engineer, County Administration Building, 4 Moore Road, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210 and may be examined or are available for pickup by prospective bidders during normal business hours. Documents will be furnished at the Office of the County Engineer for a cost of $100.00 per set (Checks shall be made payable to the County of Cape May). Documents will not be refunded and contract documents are not required to be returned. The Specifications refer to the New Jersey Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, dated 2001, copies of which may be obtained from the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Bidders are required to comply with the requirements of P.L. 1975, c. 127 (NJAC 17:27) and Chapter 33 of Public Laws of 1977.

All bidders are expected to become fully aware of the access about the site and the project scope and requirements prior to submitting a bid.

Bids must be made on the standard proposal forms in the manner designated therein and as required by the Specifications; must be enclosed in a sealed envelope bearing the name and address of the Bidder and marked "Grassy Sound Bridge 2009 Fender Repairs " on the outside; and addressed to the Cape May County Bridge Commission; and delivered to the Cape May County Bridge Commission, c/o Stephen O’Connor, County Administrator at William E. Sturm, Jr. 4 Moore Road, Cape May Court House, NJ, before the time noted above.

The Contract will be awarded or the proposals rejected within forty-five (45) days from the date of opening proposals. The Commission reserves the right to waive any informalities in and to reject any or all bids.
