National Colorectal Awareness Month

Colorectal Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among men and women. If everyone 50 years of age got screened for Colorectal Cancer 60% of deaths could be prevented (CDC,2014).

Lead Poisoning

A simple finger stick to test the blood for lead levels can be done for free by the Cape May County Department of Health.

Cape May County focuses on children and families & holds popular drive-through clinic to protect residents against the flu in October

The Cape May County Department of Health has many flu vaccination clinics scheduled for the month of October. The popular free drive-through flu clinic will be held for residents 14 years and older on Sunday October 5th from 8:00am-1pm at Kindle Ford Autoplaza.

Mold Classes

A grant was initiated to provide Mold Remediation education, supported by the Medical Reserve Corps.  This grant was recently approved bringing Mold Remediation classes to those who are affected by Mold that was left behind from the Superstorm. 

Superstorm Sandy Recovery Efforts

“Although there has been much progress made, some families and communities are still recovering from Superstorm Sandy,” said Freeholder Kristine Gabor.
To understand and address these issues, the Cape May County Department of Health conducted a Superstorm Sandy Health and Well-being Assessment on Cape May County residents to identify recovery needs during the first quarter of 2014.


Freeholder Kristine Gabor is pleased to announce that the 2014 Coastal Water Monitoring Program will begin on May 12th and continue through September 2, 2014 in Cape May County.

County to Host Healthcare Resource Day

Freeholder Kristine Gabor and the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders invite the public to attend the county’s annual Healthcare Resource Day on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

Importance of Influenza Vaccination

The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) would like to remind all healthcare providers to encourage all patients 6 months of age and older who have not yet received an influenza vaccine this season to be vaccinated against influenza. Annual influenza vaccination is the best tool for prevention of influenza and its complications.

Cape May County Health Department Presents Free Workshop - "Take Control of Your Health"

Cape May County Freeholder Kristine Gabor announced that the Cape May County Health Department will present a free six-session health workshop for persons with any ongoing or long-term health condition during February and March.
