Cape May County Animal Shelter and PetSmart Host The “Second Chance For Love”

Cape May Court House – Cape May County Freeholder Leonard Desiderio and Sheriff Gary Schaffer, who oversees the operation of the Cape May County Animal Shelter, announced that The Cape May County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, in conjunction with PetSmart Charities, Inc., will offer residents a “Second Chance for Love” from February 13th through 15th. This special adoption event will take place at two locations: the PetSmart store located in Rio Grande, and the Shelter, located at 110 Shelter Road, Cape May Court House, off Exit 11 of the Garden State Parkway.

“Everyone can use a second chance for love, especially the animals residing here at the Shelter and down at PetSmart,” said Sheriff Gary Schaffer. “We’re excited to be working with PetSmart Charities in promoting this special event. Adoption tables will be set up throughout the weekend, and we’ve made plans to have additional adoptable pets at PetSmart, beyond the cats that are normally there.”

Freeholder Leonard Desiderio said, “This special Valentine’s weekend event gives thousands of homeless dogs and cats around the country an opportunity to be adopted into lifelong, loving homes.”  PetSmart, Inc. and Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc. will give anyone who adopts a pet at PetSmart during the event a copy of “The Guide for Lifelong Health.”

Shelter volunteer staff will assist with adoptions at PetSmart from 12– 3 p.m. on Friday, February 13 and from 12 – 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, February 14 and 15.  Also, dogs will be at PetSmart from 12:30-3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  At the Shelter, volunteers will be on hand from noon until 4 p.m. each day to conduct tours as well as assist the public in choosing a perfect pet to fill their hearts and homes with love.
