Volunteers, the heart and soul of any shelter, are needed in every category.  Whether you've had experience or not, your special talents will make the shelter a success for animals and people.  If you are over 18 and interested in volunteering, download a volunteer application here.  Upon completion FAX, mail or bring it to the shelter.  You can also call the shelter at 465-8923 and ask to have an application mailed to you.  You will be scheduled for a mandatory Orientation once your application has been approved. Volunteer Orientations are held on the first Wednesday and second Saturday of every month at 10:30am.    Interested residents 14 - 17 years of age may complete an application, but they must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult while volunteering.                 **VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY** Petsmart in Rio Grande has a beautiful location where our cats and dogs can be presented for adoption.  Petsmart supplies the food, litter and toys and the shelter supplies the volunteers.
