Education

The Education Department strives to develop programs that are filled with energy, creativity and information. Our programs may be presented for age specific audiences or for a group of varying ages. We have a number of programs from which to choose.

If you do not find one that will suit your needs, please give us a call. We may be able to develop a program for you. Between our Guided Tour, On-Site Programs, Zoo-2-U and Distance Learning Programs, there is something for everyone.

Animal Encounters: Meet our Educational Animals in this personal classroom time.	Schools and Organizations outside of Cape May County: 1-20 people = $60.00 -- $3.00 for each additional person Schools and Organizations within Cape May County: 1-20 people = $50.00 -- $2.00 for each additional person (1 chaperone per 10 students is admitted with no charge.)

Specialized Zoo Outing: An upclose guided look as a small section of the zoo.	Schools and Organizations outside of Cape May County: 1-20 people = $60.00 ($3.00 for each additional person) Schools and Organizations within Cape May County: 1-20 people = $50.00 ($2.00 for each additional person) (1 chaperone per 10 students is admitted with no charge.)

Guided Tours: (2 Hours) Our guided tours are a great complement to your visit to the zoo. During your tour you will learn interesting trivia about our animal collection and hear stories about our individual animals. Tours are generally 1½ to 2 hours long and are led by a member of our education staff or a docent (educated volunteer).	Schools and Organizations outside of Cape May County: 1-20 people = $100.00 ($5.00 for each additional person) Schools and Organizations within Cape May County: 1-20 people = $80.00 ($3.00 for each additional person) (1 chaperone per 10 students is admitted with no charge.)

Zoo-2-U Can't make it to the zoo? That's ok, we'll bring the zoo to you! During this outreach program, you will meet a few members of our education collection, hear interesting information about these animals, and may even touch an animal or two!	Schools and Organizations out of Cape May County: $150.00 for the first hour $75.00 for each additional hour $0.50 per mile Schools and Organizations within Cape May County: $100.00 for the first hour $50.00 for each additional hour Mileage fee waived

Electronic Field Trips: (45 Minutes) Through our distance learning program, we can offer an interactive experience to your class and they don't even have to leave their seats! During this video conference we will introduce you to a few animals from our education collection and explain how they relate to the topic you have chosen. These programs are a great addition to your classroom experience and support New Jersey core curriculum content standards. Our equipment connects through 384K ISDN lines.	Non-members of the Garden State Distance Learning Consortium: $75.00 Members of the Garden State Distance Learning Consortium: $50.00 (A $25.00 additional fee will be applied if the zoo is required to dial to connect.)
