Zoo Camp 2010 Weekly Description:

1,2, Who’s at the Zoo:

Come travel the zoo with us as we see why animals are different. Wander the walkways as we explore the animal kingdom and all the while attempting to count all 500 animals that call this place home. Get your fingers ready!

Whiskers Trunks and Tails:

Have you ever really thought about all of the wild body parts animals have? Have you ever imagined what would it be like to have eyes like an eagle, or the ears of a bat? From trunks that smell to whiskers that feel, join us as we explore the world of animal senses.

Making Tracks:

Explore the world of wild animals as we walk you through the tracks they make. See all that you can learn about an animal simply by following in their steps. Remember take only pictures, leave only footprints.

Now You See Them, Now You Don’t:

What was that? Think you saw a tiger? Or was it a bird in a bush? Camouflage is some pretty amazing stuff. Come discover why animals are so colorful and why their stripes are there for more than just looks.

Where the Wild Animals Are:

Take an adventure with us as we explore our world searching out all of the wild things that live here. Together we will sail across the sea of our imaginations to learn about where our zoo animals’ wild relatives call home. You won’t want to blink, not even once.

Animal Locomotion:

Humans crawl on all fours when we are born, then learn to walk upright on two legs. Movement from one place to another is an amazing thing, and all animals move a little differently. Whether it moves on a hundred legs or no legs at all come join us as we discover how animals move from place to place.

From Toys to Training… All About Animal Care:

Do you ever get bored of your old toys? So do our animals! Animal care is a lot more then just food and water. So come discovered that working with animals takes a lot of patience and a few tricks up your sleeve. Together we will learn about how even the most simple toy or training commands can make any animals life more exciting and rewarding.

Habitat Heroes:

Food Water Shelter and Space are the 4 requirements all animals need to survive. And yet different animals live in different places. Come explore the zoo as we study the different habitats animals live in and learn how you can build a healthy habitat in your own yard.

Just Here for the Food:

All animals need to eat in order to survive! But why do some eat meat and other only plants? Learn how and what we feed our animals here at the zoo. And just what are some of their favorite foods?
