Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Cape May County Discount Health Services Program?

The Cape May County Discount Health Services program helps to lower the cost of prescription medications, eyeglasses, nutritional supplements, diabetic supplies, lasik eye surgery, hearing aids, and teeth whitening. Covered services are accessed through the Cape May County RX Card. The program is free!

Where can I get a Cape May County Rx Card?

Rx Cards are available at the Department of Health (6 Moore Rd in Cape May Court House) and at libraries within the County. Cards are available on their own, or may also be cut out of the “Cape May County Discount Health Services Program” brochure. You may also print out a card from the internet. Go to www.cmchealth.net, click on “prescription card” in the hot topics box, then click on the red text in the box. This will bring you to the RX Card page. You have two options to print a card online:

1.    You can click on the Cape May County Discount Health Services Program brochure, print a copy and cut out the card, or

2.    You can scroll to the bottom of the page, and in the Card Information box, enter your name and either an e-mail address or “none” and click Create Prescription Card, then print.

Who can use a Cape May County Rx Card?

Anyone can use the card – there are no application forms, no claim forms to file, and there are no membership exclusions. The Cape May County Rx Card is not insurance and can only be used alone, not in conjunction with any other plan. The program was launched to help the uninsured residents of Cape May County afford their prescription medications. However, people with insurance can also use the Rx Card on medications that their plan does not cover.

How is the program administered and who can I contact with questions on program benefits?

The program is a national discount program administered through UNA Networks of America. It is funded by pharmaceutical companies and participating pharmacies. In addition, certain private companies have partnered with UNA Networks of America to offer low-cost options on other covered health services. The Cape May County Department of Health has an agreement with UNA Networks of America to offer these discounts for Cape May County residents. If you have questions about the benefits available through the Discount Health Services Program, call the UNA Networks of America customer service number, toll-free at 1-877-321-6755. The Cape May County Department of Health does not have details on the specific program benefits and costs.

What if I don’t have access to the internet?

Many of the programs and services offered by UNA Networks of America are accessed through the internet. All County libraries have free internet access and are available for your use.

PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS

How does the prescription drug program work?

Simply take the Cape May County RX Card to a participating pharmacy along with a prescription from your physician to receive the discount.

How can I find out what the discount will be?

You can look up the cost of a prescription medication using the Rx Card online. Go to www.cmchealth.net, click on “prescription card” in the hot topics box, then click on the red text in the box. This will bring you to the RX Card page. Scroll down and click on Medication Pricing.

Medication Pricing

Then, on the left, click on Drug Pricing Lookup. You can search for your specific medication and dosage. Currently the Rx Card is only available at retail pharmacies (not mail order). You can enter your zipcode or your address to see pharmacies in your area. You can click on an individual pharmacy to see the pricing or click on the Shop & Compare button to see the pricing at all of the pharmacies selected. The price shown is the price you would pay using the Rx Card. The online pricing is an estimate only – you should verify the price with the individual pharmacy by calling or visiting and providing them with the RxBin and RxGRP numbers on your Rx Card.

How can I find out what pharmacies are participating?

Look on the back of the Rx Card to see a partial list of national participating pharmacies. Many independent pharmacies are also participating. You can call your pharmacy to ask if they are participating or you can check on a specific pharmacy online. Go to www.cmchealth.net, click on “prescription card” in the hot topics box, then click on the red text in the box. This will bring you to the RX Card page. Scroll down and click on Pharmacy Locator and then Pharmacy Locator again.  You can search for participating pharmacies by zipcode or browse by State.

Can the Rx Card be used out of County or by out of County residents?

Yes – although the card is offered primarily for Cape May County residents, anyone can use the card. The program is coordinated through United Networks of America and is active in many places in the United States. Check with a pharmacy in the area you are interested in to make sure they are participating. You can also check for out-of-County participating pharmacies online.

Are all medications covered and how much is the discount?

Most medications are covered, but you can check online or with your pharmacy to find out what the price would be on your specific medication. The average savings on prescription medications is 30%, but may be as high as 75% on some medications. Over-the-counter medications are unfortunately not covered.
