Welcome to the Physical Therapy Division
Cape
May County Health Department
(609) 465-1196

The Cape May County Health Department’s Division of Physical Therapy has been serving the Community since 1977.  It was one of the first facilities to offer outpatient rehabilitation services to the residents of Cape May County.

Our licensed professional staff has a variety of clinical expertise and experience covering all age groups and diagnoses. Services are offered for orthopedic and sports injuries such as back and neck pain and knee injuries, fitness and wellness programs, neurological problems such as stroke or Parkinson’s disease, and geriatric and pediatric rehabilitation needs.

Physical therapists (PT’s) specialize in the examination and treatment of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular problems that affect the ability to move and function independently in their environment.  PT’s also can provide programs directed at preventing injuries and overuse.  The foundation of treatment is therapeutic exercise and functional training.  PT’s educate patients to take care of their problem and enhance their improvements by instructing them in home exercise programs.

The therapists utilize a “hands on” approach and provide treatment in a friendly and caring environment.  Standards of care are established for each diagnosis; however each patient is treated individually starting with a thorough evaluation and the development of a specialized program. The facility is well equipped to deal with a wide range of problems and staff is bilingual.  Health insurance covers most types of physical therapy, but coverage depends on individual plans.
